COSMIC Mobility in San Teodoro, Sardinia

The first part of the COSMIC project took place from the 17th- 25th of August in San Teodoro, Sardinia, Italy.

The goal of this project was to explore, how art in the frame of non-formal can create opportunities for migrants. 30 participants from Germany, Italy and Spain were supposed to be in this project, but unfortunately due to the changing COVID-19 restrictions, participants from Spain were not allowed to travel to Italy. In the end we were in total 20 people from Germany and Italy.

It was still an amazing experience. The project took place in a camping place in San Teodoro, Sardinia. Everyone had their own tent - 100 Meter away from the sea. It was magical waking up and hearing the waves and watching the sunset.

The first day of the project was all about getting to know each other through different team-building activities. Of course, remembering all the names was the biggest struggle. But eventually at the end of the day it felt like we knew each other for many years.

The next days we had various interactive workshops and group dynamic activities, where we discussed and explored about different dimensions and characteristics of art instruments as

vehicles of cultural expression. We learned and shared about experiences and examples of using art as an instrument of contrast to prejudice and discrimination towards migrants and refugees among young people. Different tools and activities helped us to generate an idea for using art as a vehicle of intercultural dialogue and contrast to prejudice/stereotypes. Thanks to the diversity and experiences in our group we had a lot to share and discuss- which always ended in interesting and fruitful conversations.

In between the workshop session we had plenty of time to relax - and what else to do, when the beach is 100 meters away? - Yes - swimming. The water was truly clear and fresh- the perfect way to escape the heat.

During the project we had a lot of time to get to know each other. At the intercultural nights, every country shared some insights and facts about their culture and country. I’ve learnt a lot and was throughout the project very grateful to be a part of these moments. I have met so many great people and made a lot of good friendships and contacts. This project really helped creating a network among young people of European Union.

Overall, I can say it was a great experience being a part of this project! Thank you.
